Professional Biography I have written reviews and profiles for newspapers and art journals, including: ArtNet.com Art Papers New York Press Ceramics Art and Perception Chapel Hill News Gay and Lesbian Times San Diego Union-Tribune NPR’s On Air Magazine Written three artist’s book essays: Kent Williams Amalgam, (ASFA, & D.A.P. 2007) Paris 1962 (Empire Editions & Rizzoli 2007 & 2008) Organic Paint: Raffaele D’Onofrio (Hard Press Editions 2008) Curated three exhibitions: Life Studies in 2000 for the Duke University Museum of Art-an exploration of humanism Only Human in 2001 for Flux Gallery in San Diego–which featured portraiture Non, a mock magazine insert by Dominic Fisher for Zing Magazine due out 2008 Now On: is a video series I produce for my web site and You Tube Now On: gives you a fast, edgy insider’s tour of noteworthy New York art openings. Uptown, over to Chelsea, down to the Lower East Side, out in Williamsburg and beyond. After graduating from Pratt Institute I opened a boutique in NYC’s East Village. I also wrote about new wave fashion for the East Village Eye newspaper. My shop, Einstein’s, co-owned with designer Paul Monroe, sold avant-garde American fashions and was featured in numerous fashion magazines and periodicals, and on several dozen TV shows. After leaving fashion, Julia devoted her energies to writing and fine art. As a freelance writer I serve the visual arts community.
